Monsoon has withdrawn from 12 districts of Madhya Pradesh, but is expected to return to the remaining districts by October 10. More than 15 districts experienced rainfall on Saturday. Bhopal recorded heavy rain, while light showers were reported in Indore, Betul, Datia, Khajuraho in Chhatarpur, Rewa, Sagar, Satna, Sidhi, Umaria, Shajapur, Sehore, Rajgarh, Dewas, and Agar-Malwa. Weather takes U-turn in Bhopal after monsoon Four days after the monsoon ended, Bhopal saw a sudden change in weather on Saturday. Clouds lingered until 3:30 pm, followed by heavy showers in most parts of the city. By 8:30 pm, the city recorded 7 mm of rainfall. Dams opened after monsoon For the first time this season, gates of Bhopal’s three major dams- Kolar, Kaliyasot, and Bhadbhada- were opened on the same day. One gate of Kolar Dam was opened around 8 am. Bhadbhada dam’s gate was opened at 8:30 pm to release Upper Lake water, and two gates of Kaliyasot Dam were opened at 8:40 pm. So far, Kaliyasot and Bhadbhada gates have been opened ten times this monsoon, while only Kerwa dam’s automatic gates remain closed. Monsoon retreat Monsoon has withdrawn from Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna, Agar-Malwa, Neemuch, Mandsaur, and Ratlam. It has partially withdrawn from parts of Rajgarh and Ashok Nagar. The weather department expects the monsoon to retreat from the entire state by October 10. This year, the monsoon arrived in Madhya Pradesh on June 16, one day later than usual. Active weather systems A low-pressure area is currently active in the eastern part of the state, bringing rainfall in several districts. Rainfall records Guna received the highest rainfall this season at 65.6 inches, followed by Mandla-Raisen (62+ inches) and Sheopur-Ashoknagar (56+ inches). Districts with the least rainfall include Shajapur (28.9 inches), Khargone (29.6), Khandwa (32), Barwani (33.5), and Dhar (33.6).
