A 27-year-old engineer woman from Bhopal’s Kolar locality died by suicide on Tuesday night by hanging herself in her room, the police said on Wednesday. As per police, no suicide note was recovered from the spot. According to family members, she often said she dreamt of Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, and Lord Hanuman, and expressed a desire to be with them. Her body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case of unnatural death and have begun investigations. Initial findings suggest she had been struggling with mental health issues, as per police. Woman was employed in Indore Kolar police station TI Sanjay Singh Soni told Bhaskar English that the woman who took the extreme step has been identified as Kirti Dwivedi. After completing her B.Tech degree, she secured a job with a private company in Indore. As per company policy, she spent 20 days in Indore and the remaining 20 days working from home in Bhopal. She was residing with her parents in Netaji Hills of Kolar. Mental health declined in March 2025 Investigating officer in the case, Santosh Singh said that her family confirmed a decline in her mental health since March this year. She had been under medical treatment, but frequently spoke incoherently, saying she could see deities and that they were calling her. Family members said she repeatedly expressed her wish to “go to them”. Family background Kirti’s father works at Vallabh Bhavan in the state health department, while her elder sister is employed in Indore, the police came to know. At the time of the incident, Kirti was inside her room, while her brother was in another room of the house. Her mother had gone to a neighbour’s house to attend an evening prayer ceremony. When she returned, she found the door locked from inside. After repeated calls went unanswered, the family broke open the door and discovered her hanging. Police have ruled out foul play but continue to investigate the case.
