In Jabalpur, a woman has been accused of performing black magic on girls during Navratri. She reportedly invited the girls to her home under the pretext of a Kanya Bhoj (ritual feast) and had created a circle containing items such as lemons, vermillion, powders, and a doll-like object. The girls were reportedly terrified upon seeing the setup and began screaming. Taking advantage of the commotion, they managed to escape from the house. CCTV footage has surfaced showing the girls running away. The incident occurred on Tuesday. Woman allegedly performs tantric rituals on girls Local residents Neha Chaudhary, Sandhya Ahirwar, and others have filed a complaint at the Ranchi police station against Bharti Gupta. According to Neha, the woman first served food to the girls and then brought a jug of water in which something was reportedly mixed. The girls, sensing something was wrong, refused to drink it. Bharti Gupta then allegedly applied oil on the girls’ heads and tied threads on their hands. When the girls realized something suspicious was about to happen, they ran away. Neha added that, along with the havan materials, a liquor bottle and a doll were also kept in the room, raising fears that tantric rituals were being conducted. A complaint has been filed against a woman, Bharti Gupta, in Jabalpur’s Ranjhi area for allegedly performing black magic rituals on young girls during Navratri. Idol, circle of lemons and dolls found Complainant Sandhya Ahirwar stated that girls had gone for a Kanya Bhoj in the neighborhood when Bharti Gupta invited them inside her house and locked the door. Inside, the girls reportedly saw a circle made of lemons and dolls, along with a Kali Mata idol and an axe. Sandhya alleged that one girl’s hair was pulled to create an atmosphere of fear. She added that she did not even know this woman previously. A well was also found behind the house. Eyewitness account from a girl Tamanna Chaudhary, who was among the girls, said: “An aunty called us to the terrace for Kanya Bhoj, tied threads on our hands, and applied oil on our hair. There were lemons, chilies, and liquor kept inside a lemon circle. She also brought water mixed with something, but we refused to drink. Suddenly, an uncle shut the door and began clapping. We ran to the terrace and started screaming. Only when the neighboring women gathered, the door was opened.” Police action On receiving the complaint, Ranjhi police rushed to the spot and took Bharti Gupta into custody. The station in-charge confirmed that the statements of the girls and their families have been recorded. The woman is being questioned, and police are probing whether others were involved in a possible black magic or tantric ritual racket.
