Woman raped on pretext of job in Railways:Survivor alleges her father’s friend violated her; police register FIR, arrest accused

A 34-year-old woman residing in the Bag Sewaniya area of Bhopal accused her friend’s father of raping her numerous times on the pretext of a job in railways, the police reported on Friday. As per police, the accused, identified as Button Dohre, is a clerk in the Railways and also a long-time acquaintance of the victim’s father. The police said they have arrested him after registering a case. Job offer used to trap woman Bag Sewaniya police station in-charge Amit Soni told Bhaskar English that the accused frequently visited the victim’s home due to his friendship with her father. Exploiting this trust, he assured the woman that he could secure her a position in the Railways. Using this pretext, he lured her into meeting him. Woman sexually assaulted in hotel room The first assault, as alleged by the woman, took place two years ago when the accused called her to a hotel room under the guise of discussing her employment. There, he forced himself upon her. Over the following two years, he allegedly continued to rape her multiple times, while repeatedly delaying the promised job. Complaint lodged by family When the survivor woman realised that the accused had no intention of fulfilling his promise, she disclosed the ordeal to her family. On Thursday, accompanied by her relatives, she approached the police station and filed a complaint. Following the FIR, the accused was taken into custody.
