Months after introducing the state’s first ‘Pod Concept Retiring Room’ at Bhopal Railway Station, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has inaugurated a modern Food Plaza at the station. The facility was inaugurated on Sept 25, 2025. Developed by M/s Express Food Services, the new facility comes as a much-needed relief for nearly 70,000 passengers who use the station daily. Inauguration by a child passenger In a heart-warming gesture, the food plaza was inaugurated by a child passenger in the presence of the Station Director, Bhopal, and the Regional Manager of IRCTC West Zone. The initiative reflects IRCTC’s focus on creating people-friendly experiences. Guided by the Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnav and IRCTC CMD Sanjay Kumar Jain, the corporation continues to add world-class amenities to enhance rail journeys. Spacious design and traditional meals The food plaza spans 152.25 square metres and offers seating for around 40 passengers. Designed with a modern ambience, it also serves traditional breakfast and meals, blending comfort with homely flavours. The facility aims to provide both convenience and a welcoming space for travellers during their journeys. Commitment to passenger-friendly services Gaurav Jha, Group General Manager, IRCTC West Zone, Mumbai, said the plaza at platform number 1 would ensure world-class service standards and enrich travel experiences. He emphasised that the mix of modern ambience and traditional food options makes the facility unique. The project is another step in IRCTC’s mission to provide value-added services, ensuring train journeys remain both comfortable and memorable for passengers. Highlights:
