H-1B visa fee hike one of reasons behind weakening of rupee: expert According to experts, the reason for this decline in the rupee is the weakness of Asian currencies and the strengthening of the US dollar. Additionally, the US tariff and H-1B visa fees are to be increased to $100,000. Due to this, the rupee has been hit doubly. If the value of any currency decreases compared to the dollar, it is called currency depreciation, falling, or weakening. In English, it is called currency depreciation. Every country has a foreign currency reserve, which it uses for international transactions. The increase or decrease in foreign reserves affects the value of the currency. If India’s foreign reserve in dollars is equal to America’s reserve in rupees, then the value of the rupee will remain stable. If our dollar reserve decreases, the rupee will weaken; if it increases, the rupee will strengthen. This is called the floating rate system.
