A video of the accident during a Tazia procession in Hatnara village of Ratlam district has surfaced. It shows the procession moving when the Tazia came in contact with an 11 KV high-tension power line. Three people died and 10 others were seriously injured. Following the incident, the electricity department suspended lineman Ghanshyam Gir on charges of negligence. The services of outsourced lineman Samarth Makwana and helper Gobilal were also terminated. The Madhya Pradesh government has announced financial assistance of ₹4 lakh each for the families of the deceased. Preliminary probe: DJ noise prevented people from hearing warnings According to the preliminary investigation by Piplauda police, some youths in the procession lifted the Tazia before the scheduled time. People on the route and electricity department employees noticed the overhead power line and tried to stop them. However, their warnings could not be heard because of the loud DJ music. The Tazia then touched the power line, causing the electric current to spread. Arbaz, Saddam Hussain alias Saddu and Rashid died in the incident. See pictures of the accident Funeral of all three held together The funeral procession of Rashid Khan (27), Arbaz Khan (32) and Saddam Hussain alias Saddu (35) was taken out together on Friday. Villagers, public representatives and members of the community attended the funeral. The Tazia procession scheduled for Friday night was not taken out after the incident. Families demand government jobs Villagers and Congress leaders submitted a memorandum to SDM Rachna Sharma, demanding action against those responsible. They also sought government jobs and additional financial assistance for the families of the deceased. Injured admitted to different hospitals DIG and SP inspect hospital, accident site DIG Nimish Agarwal and SP Amit Kumar visited Ratlam Medical College and met the injured. The SP later inspected the accident site in Hatnara village and directed Jawra SDOP Sandeep Malviya and Piplauda police station in-charge Ramesh Koli to carry out a detailed investigation and submit a report.
