On 24 June at 9:42 pm, as soon as Vardhman Jain, a resident of Ashok Nagar, switched on his mobile internet, more than 40 photos and three videos downloaded on WhatsApp. They showed his cousin, Muskan Jain, with a young man. Shockingly, the sender was the same man seen in the images, Ritik Soni. The messages triggered panic as Muskan was missing and unreachable. After hours of searching, police traced her phone to Mahana village on Isagarh Road, where they found a parked car with the bodies of Muskan and Ritik inside. A pistol, an axe, a paper cutter, sulfas tablets, and a two-page suicide note were recovered from the spot. Initial investigation suggests Ritik first murdered Muskan with an axe and paper cutter before shooting himself. Dainik Bhaskar spoke to the police, family members, and doctors to understand the entire incident. A slipper, an axe, a paper cutter, sulfas tablets, and chocolates were also found and seized by police. Rural Police Station in-charge Bhuvnesh Sharma said the police traced Ritik and Muskan’s mobile location to Isagarh Road and searched with their families until 3 am. Muskan Jain’s cousin, Vardhman Jain, says, I was sitting at the shop at night. Around 10:15 PM, after closing the shop, I checked my mobile and saw dozens of messages from an unknown number. From 9:42 PM, 40-45 photos and 2-3 videos of Muskan were sent. In them, she was seen with a young man. Some photos and videos were very private. According to Vardhman, he immediately informed his brothers about this. All family members immediately reached Muskan’s house in Soni Colony, but she was not there. Uncle said, She had gone to the gym at 9 PM as usual; she used to come back by 9 PM. I had gone to the temple, and Muskan had not returned home even by the time I came back. I am waiting. The search began at the homes of relatives and acquaintances, but no clue was found anywhere. Family members say that Muskan used to visit everyone’s house, so everyone was asked, but she was not at anyone’s house. Then all of us went to the police station with the Municipal President and informed the station in-charge. At that time, no one had thought that Muskan’s search would reach a tragic end a few hours later. Muskan had a split head with a deep bleeding wound, two deep cuts near the collarbone reaching the muscles, and bleeding from the nose. No other external injuries were found. A female doctor examined the uterus and conducted an internal examination, with samples collected. Dr. Jaitwar said the uterus was normal and there were no signs of rape. Viscera samples were preserved to determine whether any poisonous substance had been consumed. Doctors also found a bullet injury on Ritik’s head. Muskan seen leaving in CCTV at 8:30 PM According to sources, she was also seen leaving her house in CCTV footage at 8:30 PM. After that, both of them went on Isagarh Road. While driving, the youth turned the car to the wrong side and drove it about 10 feet off the road. Unofficial information related to the incident stated that, as written in the suicide note, the incident could have happened in such a way that Hritik hit Muskan on the back of her head with an axe, and then cut her throat with a paper cutter. Boy killed girl and shot himself SP Rajiv Kumar Mishra said the girl’s family approached the police around 12:15 AM, after which the location of both Muskan and Ritik was traced near Futera Chakk village on Isagarh Road. A car parked by the roadside was found with both bodies inside. Police recovered a two-page suicide note, mobile phones, an axe, a razor, a pistol, and a spent cartridge from the scene. The rear seat was partially burnt, indicating an attempt to set the car on fire. Preliminary investigation suggests Ritik Soni murdered Muskan before taking his own life.
