Bank Operational Manager alleges rape by colleague:Accountant promised marriage, later refused; FIR registered

A private bank accountant in Madhya Pradesh’s Shajapur district has been booked for allegedly raping an operational manager after promising to marry her. According to the complaint, the accused allegedly trapped the woman by telling her that he loved her and would marry her, but later refused, saying that their castes were different. Kotwali Police have registered an FIR against the accused. The 28-year-old operational manager stated in her complaint that she was working at a private bank in Shajapur in 2025. During this period, she came into contact with the bank’s accountant, Shivam Dubey, a resident of Katni district. As their acquaintance grew, the two entered into a relationship. The accused had said – I cannot live without you The woman alleged that the accused expressed his love for her and promised marriage. He reportedly told her that he could not live without her. Trusting his assurances, she had physical relations with him for the first time on 25 August 2025. According to the complaint, after promising marriage, the accused continued to have physical relations with her. Whenever she raised the issue of marriage, he allegedly avoided the conversation. She further alleged that he assaulted and abused her whenever she objected. Accused Shivam used to come to Shajapur on weekends The complainant said that Shivam Dubey was later transferred to Damoh. Despite the transfer, he allegedly continued visiting Shajapur on weekends to meet her. She claimed that he would come to her house and force physical relations even after she repeatedly refused. The woman further stated that she was subsequently transferred elsewhere. However, the accused allegedly continued to harass her through phone calls and messages. He is accused of making obscene remarks and pressuring her to remain in contact with him. Accused’s father refused marriage According to the complaint, the woman later approached the accused’s father regarding marriage. However, he allegedly refused, citing the caste difference between the two families. Following this, tensions reportedly escalated in their relationship. The complainant alleged that the accused was aware from the beginning that she belonged to a Scheduled Caste community. Despite this, he allegedly used casteist slurs and subjected her to humiliation and mental harassment. Search for the accused continues Kotwali Police have registered a case against Shivam Dubey on charges including rape on the pretext of marriage, assault, verbal abuse and caste-based insult. The investigation is underway. Police said efforts are being made to trace the accused, who has reportedly been absconding since the FIR was registered.
