A head-on collision took place between two cars in Khurai of Sagar district, leaving both vehicles badly damaged. Seven people, including a newly married couple, got trapped inside one car. They were rescued after breaking open the doors. The driver died after an ambulance reportedly arrived late. The accident occurred on Monday at Tehar Chauraha on the Khurai bypass. Considering the critical condition of the injured, all of them were first given primary treatment and then referred to Sagar District Hospital. Accident occurred while trying to overtake a truck According to Khurai Dehat police, Pralhad Kushwaha, a resident of Tora Kachhi village, had got married to Pooja Kushwaha from Besara village in Bina on Sunday. After the wedding rituals, the bride was being taken back in an Ertiga car. Meanwhile, a Safari car coming from the Sagar side tried to overtake a truck ahead and collided head-on with the Ertiga. The impact was so severe that both front doors of the Ertiga got jammed, trapping the passengers inside. Locals informed the police and ambulance services. After a lot of effort, the doors were broken open and all occupants were taken out and rushed to Khurai Civil Hospital. Injured driver could not reach Sagar Ertiga driver Surendra, son of Gulab Singh Yadav (28), was referred to Bundelkhand Medical College in Sagar due to his critical condition. However, due to delay in the ambulance, he could not reach the hospital in time and died at Khurai Civil Hospital. Relative of the groom, Sonu Kushwaha, alleged negligence by the 108 ambulance management, saying that despite vehicles being available in the hospital premises, the staff delayed shifting the injured to Sagar. He said the behaviour of the staff caused unnecessary hardship to the family, after which they arranged a private ambulance to shift the injured to Sagar.
