A video from a recent press conference held by the Madhya Pradesh Congress at the state party office has sparked political debate. The clip, circulating online, purportedly shows former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh being asked by MP Congress chief Jitu Patwari to vacate his seat and move to another chair. The incident occurred during a press conference held after the nomination of Congress Rajya Sabha candidate Meenakshi Natarajan was rejected on June 9. Digvijaya Singh shifts to side seat In the video, Jitu Patwari is seen signalling Digvijaya Singh to get up from his chair and sit elsewhere. Singh complies and moves toward a chair placed on the side. As he begins to relocate, Patwari is heard saying, “Please stay here, sir…” However, Digvijaya Singh continues and takes the side seat. Congress in-charge Harish Chaudhary is then seated next to him, followed by Meenakshi Natarajan. See in pictures what happened that day Earlier videos suggested tension between leaders The newly surfaced clip follows two other videos from the same June 9 press conference that appeared to show friction between Digvijaya Singh and Harish Chaudhary. In one video, Digvijaya Singh is seen gesturing toward Chaudhary while asking that J.P. Dhanopia be called, after which Chaudhary appears to signal him to remain calm. Singh is later seen folding his hands in front of Chaudhary. In another clip, Jitu Patwari invites Digvijaya Singh to speak at the microphone, but the veteran leader declines. Congress dismisses speculation Congress spokesperson Santosh Singh Parihar rejected suggestions of internal discord, saying the party is united and that the interactions were being exaggerated. According to Parihar, such exchanges are normal discussions that the media has blown out of proportion. He also claimed that leaders in the BJP frequently have disagreements, but those incidents receive less attention. BJP targets Congress over treatment of senior leaders The BJP seized on the latest video to criticize the Congress, alleging that the party fails to respect its senior leadership and remains divided by internal factions. Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sumer Singh Solanki said Congress leaders are busy undermining one another and humiliating their own veterans, adding that factional infighting is pushing the party toward self-destruction.
