A deeply emotional incident unfolded on Sunday at Shrinath Vihar Apartment on Bhandari Mill Road in Indore, where a 55-year-old man died of suspected natural causes, followed by the death of his 75-year-old mother within minutes after seeing his body. The sudden double tragedy left the entire family shattered, turning what was meant to be a farewell into an unimaginable loss of two lives within hours. When the biers of the mother and son were carried out together on Monday, family members and relatives broke down and wept bitterly. Son found unresponsive after repeated calls The deceased, identified as Rajul Sharma, worked as a computer designer. On Sunday afternoon, he had returned home after lunch and was resting in his room. When his younger brother Sumit tried calling him several times and received no response, family members went to his residence. There, they found him unresponsive. He was immediately rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Mother brought home without knowing the tragedy Rajul’s 75-year-old mother, Kiran Sharma, was staying at her daughter’s house on Aerodrome Road at the time. In order to prevent her from suffering a sudden shock, family members decided not to inform her immediately about her son’s death. She was slowly brought back home. However, the situation turned devastating the moment she reached the apartment. As soon as she stepped out of the lift and entered the flat, she saw her son’s lifeless body. Overcome with grief, she broke down in tears and collapsed moments after touching his head. Family members rushed her to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Emotional collapse leaves family devastated The back-to-back deaths of mother and son within such a short span created an atmosphere of grief and shock in the household. Relatives and neighbors gathered in large numbers, struggling to comprehend the sudden loss of two family members in a single day. The family remains unable to recover from the emotional trauma, as preparations for the son’s last rites were already underway when the second tragedy struck. Final act of humanity: Eye donation brings light to four lives Despite their immense grief, the family took a noble decision to donate the eyes of both the deceased. With the assistance of volunteers from the Muskaan Group, the eye donation procedure was completed successfully. Doctors confirmed that the corneas will help restore vision to four individuals, offering a rare moment of hope amid tragedy. Family members said the decision was made in accordance with humanitarian values and to give meaning to the untimely deaths. Funeral plans revised after second death Rajul Sharma’s funeral had originally been scheduled for Sunday evening at 5 p.m. However, after the sudden death of his mother, the final rites were postponed. Now, the funeral procession for both mother and son will be held together on Monday morning at 10 a.m. Other eye donations inspire social message In a related development, families of three other deceased individuals in the city—Dhanvanti Devi Lalwani, Sardarni Narendra Kaur, and Nandlal Purnani—also donated their eyes after their deaths. These acts of generosity have been widely seen as inspiring examples of social responsibility, offering life and vision to others even in moments of personal loss.
