The Food Safety Administration conducted a special inspection campaign on Monday at various hostels and food establishments in Indore. The team of officials inspected hostels in Indrapuri Colony, Ahilyapuri, and Mangal Nagar areas and collected a total of 16 food samples for testing. During the inspection, the cleanliness of the kitchen and store at Satkar Girls Hostel, Indrapuri Colony, was found unsatisfactory. Medical fitness certificates of food handlers and water testing reports were also not available here. Six samples, including toor dal, mixed dal, flour, chili powder, gram flour, and rice, were taken from the hostel. A notice will be issued to the concerned operator. Similarly, food samples were also taken from Veer Bhagat Singh Hostel and Satkar Hostels, Mangal Nagar, and sent for testing. Hygiene and food safety arrangements in other hostels were found satisfactory. Additionally, Aao Mitron Cake Shop and Tinkuz Cafe were also inspected. An awareness and training program on food safety and hygiene was also organized at the cafe. Collector Shivam Verma said that providing safe and quality food to students is the administration’s priority. Regular inspections of hostels, messes, and food establishments associated with students will continue. Strict action will be taken if violations of food safety standards are found.
