Australia has announced the team for the ODI and T20 series against Bangladesh. Star opener Travis Head has been given personal leave after the long IPL season, while captain Mitchell Marsh will be out of the ODI series due to an ankle injury. He has not fully recovered yet, so he will not be able to participate in the ODI matches. In Marsh’s absence, Josh Inglis will take over the captaincy of the team. He has previously led the Australian team in the series against Pakistan as well. Leg spinner Tanveer Sangha has been ruled out of the tour due to a hamstring injury. In his place, off-spinner Todd Murphy has been included in Australia’s limited-overs (ODI) team for the first time. Travis Head rested for workload management after IPL 2026 Cricket Australia’s selectors are serious about Travis Head’s workload. Head is Australia’s main opener in all three formats and the team has a busy schedule over the next 12 months. He was unable to be part of the Pakistan tour due to playing playoff matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026. He was initially selected in both the ODI and T-20 teams for the Bangladesh tour, but has now been rested. The announcement of his replacement in the T-20 team is yet to be made. National selector Tony Dodemaide said, “Travis was initially selected for both series, but has later been given personal leave. We expect his return in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.” Mitchell Marsh likely to return in T20I series against Bangladesh Mitchell Marsh suffered an ankle injury during the IPL, which resurfaced during the Pakistan series. It was expected that he would captain in all 6 matches (3 ODIs and 3 T-20s) against Bangladesh, but he could not get fit by the ODI series. Now he will join the team directly in Dhaka and prepare for the T-20 series starting from June 17. If he is not fit by then, Josh Inglis will captain. Regular ODI captain Pat Cummins has already been rested. Oliver Peake, Matt Short retain spot in the team Young batting all-rounder Oliver Peake and Matt Short, who performed well against Pakistan, have also been retained in the team for the Bangladesh tour. Peake became the youngest specialist batter to debut in ODIs for Australia. Selector Dodemaide said, “Mitchell Marsh is currently regaining full fitness. Meanwhile, we are pleased to welcome Todd Murphy to the ODI team. It was the right decision to retain Oliver Peake and Matt Short with the team after the Pakistan tour.” Bowlers benefited from being knocked out of IPL playoffs Fast bowlers Xavier Bartlett and Ben Dwarshuis have made a comeback to the ODI team. It was believed that both would be busy in the IPL playoffs with Punjab Kings (PBKS), but the team lost 6 out of their last 7 matches and was eliminated from the playoff race. Due to this, both bowlers have returned to Australia and will join the team in Bangladesh after rest. Both will replace Billy Stanlake and Riley Meredith, although Meredith will remain on the tour as he is part of the T20 team.
