Late on Friday night, a bus driver died and 18 passengers, including women, men, and children, were injured in a road accident on National Highway-52 in the Sunera police station area of Shajapur district. The accident occurred near Mahakal Dhaba when a bus full of laborers collided with a truck loaded with wood that was moving ahead of it. According to information, about 50 to 60 laborers were traveling in the Kamala bus. All of them were returning to their villages in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, after working at brick kilns in the Sanwer area of Indore. The bus collided with the truck from behind between 1 and 2 AM. The impact was so severe that the front part of the bus was badly damaged. Driver died on the spot In the accident, bus driver Manohar Singh, a resident of Ashoknagar, died on the spot. Upon receiving the information, Sunera police reached the scene and the injured were taken to the district hospital with the help of Dial-112 and 108 ambulances. Among the injured admitted to the hospital are two pregnant women. According to doctors, the condition of all the injured is currently stable and their treatment is ongoing. Questions raised over truck full of wood After the accident, local residents raised questions about the transportation of wood logs in the truck. Eyewitnesses say that the truck was full of wood and after the accident, the driver fled the scene with the vehicle. During this, wood logs were scattered on the road. Local residents claimed that later some people arrived at the scene with tractor-trolleys and other vehicles and picked up the scattered wood from the road. Questions are also being raised about the role of the police regarding this entire incident. Treatment ongoing in hospital Dr. Vinod Gurjar, posted at the district hospital, said that all patients injured in the accident are being treated. He informed that one person has died, who has been identified as the bus driver. The body has been kept safe for post-mortem. Police have started investigating the matter.
