The Madhya Pradesh government has ordered a review of the service records and pay fixation of nearly 38,000 work-charged and contingency-paid employees, along with other staff working in these departments, before their retirement. The move aims to identify any benefits granted in violation of rules during their service period. If the investigation finds that any employee received undue financial benefits, action will be taken in such cases. The largest number of such employees are working in the Public Works, Public Health Engineering, Water Resources, Narmada Valley Development and School Education departments. To speed up the process, the Finance Department has directed all concerned departments to launch a special campaign to resolve pending cases related to pay fixation, pay scale approval and salary matters of retired employees. According to the order, a dedicated system will be created to handle pay-fixation issues in these departments. Officials have been instructed to examine all pending cases quickly and ensure their timely disposal. The government believes the special drive will help clear long-pending service and salary-related matters while ensuring that any irregularities in pay fixation are identified before employees retire. Mention of many things in the order The order states that in many cases, employees are facing unnecessary difficulties due to disputes related to pay scales, time-bound pay scales, promotions, and retirement benefits. In view of this, pending cases will be resolved by running special campaigns department-wise. Departments will also have to send the progress report of the campaign to the Finance Department. The Finance Department has clarified that in case of non-action within the stipulated timeline, the accountability of the concerned officers can be fixed. Check service books and correct errors The Finance Department has directed the concerned Drawing and Disbursing Officers and Heads of Departments to examine service books, correct errors, and take action after obtaining prior approval if necessary. Additionally, a target has been set to resolve pending cases related to service records and pay fixation within the next six months. Under a special campaign, cases related to pay fixation, time-scale, promotion pay scale, and other financial benefits of retired and serving employees will be reviewed and action will be taken as per rules.
