In Raisen, Madhya Pradesh, two buses collided head-on, after which one of them hit a culvert. Four people were killed in the accident, while several others were seriously injured. The incident took place on Friday around 11 am. The impact of the collision was so severe that several parts of the buses were badly damaged. SP Ashutosh Gupta said that the accident involved buses operating on the Bhopal–Sagar route. Four passengers travelling in the bus going from Bhopal to Sagar died, while several passengers in the other bus sustained serious injuries. The incident occurred near Sehateganj toll plaza under Kharbai police outpost limits. The injured have been referred to Bhopal for treatment. Death toll and identification of victims Initially, reports suggested five deaths, but later confirmed figures stated that three passengers had died. One victim’s head was reportedly split into two parts due to the impact, and the bodies were in such a condition that identification was difficult. Fifteen people were injured, many with serious hand and leg injuries. They were taken to Raisen district hospital and hospitals in Bhopal, including Hamidia Hospital, through 10 ambulances. Two deceased have been identified as Nitish Vyas (28), a resident of Panda Tekapar in Sultanpur, and Makhan Lodhi (29), a resident of Pachipura in Begumganj. One body is yet to be identified. Buses on Bhopal–Sagar route involved Collector Arun Kumar Vishwakarma and SP Ashutosh Gupta also reached the spot. The SP said that the collision took place between buses of Kalpana Travels (MP33 ZC 7770) and Shakti Travels (MP04 PA 3820), both operating on the Bhopal–Sagar route. The bus travelling from Bhopal to Sagar suffered fatalities, while passengers in the other bus were seriously injured. One bus also hit a culvert before stopping. One of the deceased, Nitish Vyas, was reportedly a national-level poet and was travelling from Begumganj to Bhopal. Eyewitness account and cause of accident Eyewitness Hemraj Lodhi said both buses were being driven at high speed and collided due to reckless driving. He said the drivers could not control the vehicles at a turn due to overspeeding. Several passengers sitting near the windows suffered serious injuries to their head and face. The Shakti Travels bus reportedly suffered more damage. Injured passengers Those injured include Shivani Lodhi, Pulkit Agrawal, a 7-month-old child Prem, a 3-year-old child Nandini, Mahendra Lodhi, Kunjilal Lodhi (70), SS Solanki, Jageshwar, and Keshav Singh, among others. All injured were shifted to hospitals in Raisen and Bhopal. Passengers describe sudden impact Passenger Mamta Raikwar said she boarded the bus from Bhopal ISBT for Silwani. Around 30–35 passengers were on board. She said a sudden strong impact threw passengers off their seats as the bus reached near the toll plaza. The driver managed to control the bus but also sustained injuries. SDOP Pratibha Sharma said the collision occurred between a bus coming from Kesli and another heading towards Jaysinghnagar side, and passengers sitting near the windows suffered the most serious injuries.
