A stray dog attacked a two-and-a-half-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri, grabbing her face in its jaws while she was playing outside her home. The attack split her lip into two parts. Family members and local residents managed to rescue her from the dog’s grip after a struggle. In another attack, the dog tore the scalp of a child, who required 28 stitches. A resident of Kamalganj, Nitesh Jatav, also suffered serious injuries and needed 22 stitches. The same stray dog created panic across Shivpuri on Saturday, attacking 65 people, including children, women and men, from morning until evening. After several hours of searching, the municipal team finally captured the dog at around 7 pm. At the fruit market on Thandi Road, trader Rahish Rain was busy working when the dog suddenly attacked and bit his hand. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, showing the dog lunging at the trader without warning. Fear prevailed throughout the day in many areas Reports of attacks emerged from Hanuman Chowk, MM Hospital, Nawab Sahab Road, Khuda Basti, Custom Gate, Gandhi Park, Fruit Market and Laxmibai Colony Road. The repeated attacks spread fear across the city throughout the day. 65 injured arrived at the district hospital District Hospital Civil Surgeon Dr B.L. Yadav said 65 people arrived at the hospital after being bitten by the dog between morning and evening. All victims received treatment. He added that anti-rabies vaccines and other necessary medical resources were available in adequate quantities. Dog caught at 7 PM Municipal CMO Ishank Dhakad said multiple teams were deployed across Shivpuri to track the attacking dog. The animal was finally caught at around 7 pm, bringing relief to residents after a day of panic.
