The case of the alleged suicide of a 17-year-old girl, daughter of IPS officer Sanjeev Kanchan and Judge Renuka Kanchan in Bhopal, is still under investigation. Initial police findings suggest that the student was upset over studies and issues related to a mobile phone. The girl studied in a reputed school in the Ratibad area of Bhopal and had recently moved to Class 11 after passing Class 10. According to police, her mother told investigators that the teenager had not been given permission to keep a mobile phone. After the family found a phone with her, she was questioned and counselled over the matter. Police said the girl allegedly took the extreme step after becoming upset following the counselling. At the time of the incident, both parents were at their respective offices. Her mother, Renuka Kanchan, is posted as a judge in the Bhopal Gas Relief court. Habibganj Police Station in-charge Sanjeev Choukse said police received information about the incident from the family. The student’s mobile phone and contact details are now being examined as part of the investigation. After the post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family. Reason for suicide was not mentioned in the suicide note ACP Umesh Tiwari said that a suicide note was found with the deceased student. In it, she wrote, Mom-Dad, I love you very much, but I couldn’t be a good daughter to you. I’m sorry. However, the student did not mention the reason for suicide in the suicide note. The police have seized the suicide note and the student’s mobile phone. The couple had adopted her at three months old IPS Sanjeev Kanchan had adopted and raised the daughter. The daughter was formally adopted at just three months of age. This has been confirmed by Police Commissioner Sanjay Singh.
