The General Administration Department in the Madhya Pradesh government has issued an order for increased Dearness Allowance for IAS, IPS and IFS officers. Under this, officers will now receive 60% Dearness Allowance instead of 58%. The government has decided to implement this increased Dearness Allowance from January 1, 2026. According to the General Administration Department, officers will get the benefit of increased DA from January 2026. This will be paid in cash. This decision has been taken based on the notification issued by the Finance Ministry of the Central Government on April 22, 2026. Judicial officers will also get increased DA The state government has issued an order to increase Dearness Allowance not only for IAS, IPS and IFS officers, but also for officers of the judicial service. The Law Department has approved giving 2% increased DA to judicial officers. With this, officers associated with the judicial service will also now receive 60% Dearness Allowance. Special pay or allowances will not be included According to the order, in the revised pay structure, “basic pay” will mean the basic pay in the pay matrix fixed under the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission. Special pay or other types of allowances will not be included in this. The government has also clarified that no part of the dearness allowance will be considered as salary under Basic Rule-9(21). Instructions have been issued to all Divisional Commissioners, Collectors, and all Heads of Departments, except the Chairman of the Revenue Board. Meanwhile, the Law and Legislative Affairs Department has also issued separate orders to provide a two percent increased dearness allowance to judicial service officers. These officers will be given the increased dearness allowance from next month. Employees now await CM’s announcement Although the order for increased dearness allowance for regular employees of the state has not been issued yet. Lakhs of employees in the state are now waiting for the Chief Minister’s announcement. It is believed that the government may soon announce a 2% increase in DA for employees as well. What is Dearness Allowance? Dearness Allowance, i.e., DA, is given to government employees and pensioners to provide relief from rising inflation. It is a fixed percentage of the basic salary. The central government increases DA from time to time, after which state governments also issue similar orders for their employees and officers.
