The ‘Maa Shipra Teerth Parikrama Yatra’ (pilgrimage circuit) organised in Ujjain on Ganga Dussehra is concluding on Tuesday at Ramghat. The main attraction of the event is a special performance by devotional singer Maithili Thakur. She is also a BJP MLA from Alinagar constituency in Bihar. The Indian Navy band also performed for the first time at the event, creating a devotional atmosphere. A large number of devotees have arrived at Ramghat. Devotees floated lamps in Maa Shipra. Considering the crowd, the administration has made special arrangements for barricading and security on the riverbank. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav participated in the program with his wife. He offered milk to the Shipra river and dedicated a 300-foot-long ‘Chunari’ (sacred scarf) to Maa Shipra. The Chief Minister said that Maa Shipra is a salvation-bestowing river. Water conservation works are being carried out in 230 assembly constituencies across the state at a cost of 10,000 crore rupees. He said that Madhya Pradesh is continuously progressing in the river interlinking campaign. Regarding Simhastha, he said that in 2016, Simhastha bathing was done with the waters of the Narmada, which was bothersome. Now, by the grace of Mahakal, in the upcoming Simhastha, bathing will be done only with the waters of Shipra. 30-kilometre-long ghats are also being constructed on both sides of the Shipra. In his address, the Chief Minister mentioned Gujarat and said that Somnath Jyotirlinga and Dwarka, the city of Lord Krishna, are located there. Many great personalities, from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have brought glory to Gujarat. See photos Two-day circumambulation journey
