Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar has targeted the government over the order to remove more than 5,000 PESA mobilisers in Madhya Pradesh. Singhar said that the same youth who until yesterday were moving through village lanes filling forms for schemes like ‘Ladli Behna’ and e-KYC are now facing a situation where even their household kitchens may stop functioning. He said an order issued by the Panchayat Raj Directorate has shattered the dreams of these youths across 20 tribal districts of the state. Singhar said the mobilisers, on whose strength the government celebrated the success of flagship schemes like Ladli Behna and Ayushman, have now been removed. Removal order issued on May 13 In the order issued on May 13, it was stated that the RGSA scheme had been completed on March 31, 2026, and therefore it was no longer possible to continue the services of the mobilisers. The sudden retrenchment has come as a major blow to those youths who had planned marriages or taken small loans while depending on this ₹5,000-7,000 job. He said the move showed that the government’s intentions were not clear. He questioned whether the government was trying to snatch away the rights of poor youths to provide backdoor entry to people linked with favoured organisations. He questioned whether the 5,000 mobilisers were being removed so that people associated with the RSS could later be recruited to these positions through the backdoor. He warned that if the services of these educated youths were not restored immediately, protests would be launched against the government from the Assembly to the streets. These districts most affected Jhabua, Alirajpur, Barwani, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Dhar, Khargone, Ratlam, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Narmadapuram, Betul, Seoni, Chhindwara, Balaghat, Sidhi, Shahdol, Umaria and Sheopur are among the districts expected to be most affected.
