Five months ago, Twisha Sharma, a resident of Noida in Uttar Pradesh, married Samarth Singh, a Bhopal-based advocate. On Tuesday (May 12) night, Twisha’s family received the news of her death. The sudden death of their 33-year-old daughter has raised questions and allegations of mental harassment by in-laws. Now the relatives of Twisha Sharma, daughter-in-law of retired judge Giribala Singh, reached the Chief Minister’s residence in Bhopal demanding a direct meeting with the CM in connection with her suicide case. The family gathered at the main gate of the CM House and insisted on meeting the Mohan Yadav. However, officials asked them to submit their complaint in writing and assured that it would be forwarded. The family, however, continued to insist on a personal meeting. Protest continues outside CM residence The relatives remained stationed outside the CM residence for nearly an hour. Personnel from Shyamla Hills police station, including the station in-charge and senior officers, were deployed at the spot and repeatedly tried to calm the situation. Twisha Sharma died by suicide on May 12 Twisha Sharma, 31, allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself on the night of May 12 in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal. Her maternal family has accused her in-laws of harassment related to dowry demands. They also alleged that injury marks and bluish bruises were found on her hands and ears. Twisha originally hailed from Noida and had been married to Samarth about a year ago. Her brother, Harshit Sharma, is a serving Major in the Indian Army. Family alleges murder, rejects postmortem findings The family has maintained that Twisha’s death is suspicious and not a suicide. They claim she was murdered, evidence was tampered with, and the scene was altered. They have also expressed distrust in the postmortem report issued by AIIMS. Due to these concerns, the family has not performed her last rites even five days after the incident.
