Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh on Friday night said that he is a staunch believer in Sanatan Dharma. During a meeting with former minister and BJP MLA Usha Thakur in Indore after the Bhojshala verdict, he said, “I have always declared that I am a firm follower of Sanatan Dharma, and I am saying it again today. It was after I spoke about Sanatan Dharma that you people also started accepting the term. Earlier, you only used to talk about Hindu-Hindu Dharma.” Usha Thakur is known for her strong Hindutva image. During the conversation, Digvijaya Singh further said, “I am as much a Sanatani as anyone else. Have you ever done the Narmada Parikrama? Do you observe Ekadashi fasts?” In response, Usha Thakur said, “Personally, you are a true Sanatani, but you do not accept it publicly.” Replying to her, Digvijaya Singh said, “I am saying it publicly itself. How else should I make it public? I am a true Sanatani.” Digvijaya says final decision on Bhojshala rests with Supreme Court The senior Congress leader also reacted to the Bhojshala verdict and said the judgment would be studied carefully and further steps should be taken according to the country’s laws and traditions. He said cases related to Jama Masjid, Banaras and three other matters are already pending before the Supreme Court. He added that Bhojshala is an ASI-protected site, therefore the final decision regarding permission for worship and rituals there would be taken only by the Supreme Court. Digvijaya Singh said several claims were not mentioned in the ASI report, making it necessary to examine the entire judgment in depth. He further stated that at a time when social harmony is under stress, targeting only one community is not appropriate. All decisions should be taken within the framework of law and the Constitution, and the final verdict will ultimately come from the Supreme Court.
