An ambulance and a truck collided on the Sehore-Ichhawar State Highway late Friday night near the Do Puliya junction. The front portion of the ambulance was severely damaged, and the driver got badly trapped inside the cabin. Local villagers rushed to the spot and, after considerable effort, cut open the damaged cabin to rescue the injured driver. Villagers called for another ambulance to shift him to the hospital, but no ambulance arrived even after an hour. The delay in medical assistance sparked anger among locals against the administration. See 2 pictures… Public’s allegation- Ambulances run without patients Eyewitnesses and local residents allege that ambulance drivers often drive vehicles at high speed on the highway with sirens blaring, even without any emergency or patient. They have also accused these government vehicles of being used for private purposes. People say that due to this, many times, actual patients do not get ambulances on time. Police investigating misuse of sirens Upon receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and restored traffic. In the preliminary investigation, high speed and negligence are being considered as the main reasons for the accident. Ichhavar police station in-charge Pankaj Wadekar said that information has been received about one person being injured, who was sent to the hospital by people. Police are now investigating whether there was any patient in the ambulance at the time of the accident.
