A woman was found murdered inside her house in Madhya Pradesh’s Mauganj district. Her hands and feet were tied with cloth, and another cloth had been stuffed into her mouth. The body was recovered from a locked room in Bahuti village. According to police, the deceased was identified as Uma Singh, a resident of Bahuti village. Household items were found scattered inside the house, following which police began investigating the case from both murder and theft angles. Suspicious neighbours looked through the house and found household items lying scattered. During this time, they also spotted the woman’s body inside the room and immediately informed the police. A police team soon reached the spot, cordoned off the house and began an investigation. Evidence being collected to catch the murderer The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and fingerprint experts were called to the scene. Police are collecting evidence with the help of fingerprints to identify the accused. Investigators collected samples and evidence from household items, doors and other parts of the house. Woman was living alone in the house Police said Uma Singh had come to stay at her old house in Bahuti village on May 2 and was living there alone. After the death of her first husband, Kanak Singh, she had remarried. Police are gathering information about the woman’s family background, personal relationships and possible disputes. Officials are also trying to find out who last contacted her and who was present near the house around the time of the incident. Looking at the condition of the body, police suspect the woman may have been overpowered before the murder. Police also investigating from theft angle Police said the case is also being investigated from a theft angle because household items were found scattered inside the house. However, it is still not clear whether any valuables or cash are missing. Investigators are also examining whether the items were deliberately scattered to make the crime appear like a robbery.
