A case of impersonation during a BCom examination has surfaced at Samrat Vikramaditya University in Ujjain, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the examination system. A BTech student from Indore was caught appearing in place of another candidate during the sixth-semester exam. Mismatch in identity documents leads to detection The incident took place on Monday at the School of Studies in Commerce. Officials grew suspicious after receiving a tip-off that someone else would attempt to take the exam on behalf of a registered student. During verification in Room No. 10, at seat A-1, discrepancies were found between the candidate’s documents and photograph. Upon questioning, the student identified herself as Prisha Sahu, a resident of Yadav Nagar, Indore, and admitted she was a BTech student. Real candidate unreachable, phone switched off University authorities attempted to contact the actual candidate, Sapna Bhadauria, but her mobile phone was found switched off, further strengthening suspicions of deliberate impersonation. Accused claims she was pressured to appear During interrogation, Prisha revealed that she was approached by a man named Rishabh, who is reportedly Sapna’s brother. She alleged that she was pressured into appearing for the exam. According to her statement, Sapna told her, “For now, just take the exam; we will settle the deal later.” Prisha also claimed that Rishabh assured her he had managed similar arrangements three times before without any issues. Asked to write anything in answer sheet In a shocking revelation, Prisha said she was simply instructed to sit in the exam hall and write anything in the answer sheet, with assurances that the rest would be managed. Despite being a BTech student, she agreed to appear for a BCom paper under these conditions. Possible organized solver gang behind incident The disclosures suggest that the case may not be an isolated incident but part of a larger organized solver gang operating within the examination system. University orders action, police probe likely Vice-Chancellor Arpan Bhardwaj reached the examination center upon receiving information and termed the matter serious. He directed the examination controller to initiate immediate legal action. The accused student was detained in the controller’s office for questioning, and preparations are underway to hand over the case to Madhav Nagar police station for further investigation.
