Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, on Thursday morning, suddenly changed his schedule in Maheshwar and reached a wheat procurement centre in Katargaon without prior notice. He spoke to farmers there and gave clear instructions to officials on arrangements. The Chief Minister was visiting the Maheshwar assembly constituency and had left for the helipad in the morning after staying overnight. However, he diverted his convoy midway towards Barwah road and went straight to the Katargaon procurement centre. Farmers and staff present at the centre were surprised to see him arrive unexpectedly. A day earlier, during his visit on Wednesday, the Chief Minister had indicated that he might inspect any wheat procurement centre to review the arrangements on the ground. The Chief Minister also interacted with the farmers. CM had a direct conversation with farmers The CM spoke to the farmers without following any formal protocol. He asked if they were receiving payments on time. And if there were any irregularities in weighing. The CM instructed the present Collector Bhavya Mittal and other officials that farmers should not have to stand in the sun at procurement centres. He asked them to ensure proper arrangements for cold water and seating. During the inspection, Maheshwar MLA Rajkumar Mev was also with him, from whom the CM took feedback on agricultural problems in the region. CM’s instructions for transparency in weighing and payment Warning the officials, the CM said that the process from wheat slot booking to weighing and payment should be transparent. He informed that the government has increased the number of weighing scales to six. It will be further increased if needed. The CM assured the farmers that the government would pay every single penny for their wheat at the rate of 2625 rupees per quintal (including bonus). After the inspection, the CM said that in the coming days, he might suddenly land in any district of the state to take stock of the situation of the centres, so the administration should remain on alert mode.
