Tyre bursts, pickup flips 4 times, 16 killed:Vehicle in Dhar was carrying 50 workers; stretchers, beds fall short in hospital

A major road accident took place on Wednesday night near Chikaliya Fata on the Indore–Ahmedabad National Highway in Dhar, killing 16 people after an overloaded pickup carrying around 50 labourers lost control following a tyre burst. The vehicle overturned three to four times, crossed into the wrong lane and crashed into a Mahindra Scorpio. More than 10 ambulances were used to rush the injured to hospital, where stretchers and beds fell short, forcing many victims to be treated on the floor. The labourers were returning to their villages after finishing sugar beet harvesting work. Following the accident, an atmosphere of grief has engulfed the hospital and nearby villages.
