IPL 2026 is showing complete dominance of Indian batters. In the first 38 matches of the season, a total of 13,100 runs have been scored. Out of these, Indian batters have scored 9,066 runs, which is 69.21% of the total runs. This is the biggest contribution by Indian batsmen after the first 38 matches of any single season. Last year, 12,858 runs were scored at this stage, in which Indian batters contributed 66.25%. In the early years of IPL, this figure used to be around 50% and in 2009 it even dropped to 47.51%. But this year, the mountain of runs scored by Indian batters has overshadowed the shine of foreign batters. Oversea batters have scored 30.79% runs (4034) this season, which is not even half of what Indian batters have scored. 1) Indian batters have also surpassed foreigners in strike rate. The strike rate for total runs scored this season has been 154.17. 2) Of these, Indian batters’ 9066 runs have come at a strike rate of 158.86, while foreigners have contributed at a strike rate of 144.59. 3) Indian batters are also better than foreigners in run average (29.44) compared to (26.54). 4) The top-10 in most sixes are Indians. Vaibhav has hit the most with 32 sixes. No foreigner has 16+ sixes. Explosive Batting: All Indian Batters in top 11 strike rate 1) Even more striking than the number of runs is the statistic of run-scoring rate, i.e., strike rate. This year, the strike rate of Indian batsmen (158.86) is 14.27 higher than that of foreign batsmen. 2) This is a huge change in the 19 years of IPL. Before this, only twice (2010 and 2011) had Indians scored runs faster than foreigners, but even then the difference was very marginal. The depth of Indian batting can be gauged from the fact that out of 24 players who have scored 200 or more runs this season, 19 batsmen are Indian. Among these, the top-11 batsmen with the best strike rates are only Indians. 3) Among foreign batsmen, the first name is Phil Salt, who comes at number 12. After him, Cooper Connolly is at number 13. Tim David has certainly played excellent batting for RCB with a strike rate of 194.68, but due to having a total of 183 runs, he is outside the 200-run cut-off. 4) For the first time in any season, the top-10 strike rates among batsmen with 200+ runs belong to Indian batters. Previously, the closest figure was in 2011, where the top-8 batters were Indian. However, back then Virender Sehwag’s strike rate of 168.42 was the best, whereas this time all top-11 Indians have a strike rate higher than his. From Nicholas Pooran to Simron Hetmyer: Foreign veterans’ flop show 1) On one hand, Indian batsmen and young stars are delivering stormy performances, while on the other hand, big foreign names playing in T20 leagues around the world have proven to be complete flops. 2) The performance of veterans like Head and Aiden Markram has been slightly better, but even they haven’t been able to touch the 200-run mark in 8 innings and their strike rate has also remained below 150. 3) Overall, IPL 2026 is witnessing that golden era of Indian cricket where uncapped and young Indian players have completely changed the entire definition of playing T20 cricket by leaving fear behind. Best season for uncapped Indians: Highest contribution-most awards Indian uncapped players have scored 2757 runs, which is the highest in the first 38 matches of any season. Their strike rate of 160.48 has also been the best in any season. In terms of strike rate, four uncapped Indians are among the top-11. Priyansh has smashed bowlers with a strike rate of 249.01, while Vaibhav is at number two with a strike rate of 234.86. Prabhsimran and Ayush Mhatre have left veterans behind. This season, uncapped Indians have won the ‘Player of the Match’ title 6 times, which is a new record.
