Jabalpur High Court has severely reprimanded the Rajasthan Police for not presenting the three Congress IT cell workers, arrested in the case of a fake letter viral in the name of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia, in court. On Monday, the habeas corpus petition was heard before the division bench of Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Vinay Saraf. The court expressed displeasure over the non-presentation of the accused despite clear orders. The police cited ‘miscommunication,’ which the court found unacceptable. The court gave the Rajasthan Police two days, instructing that Nikhil, Bilal, and Inam must be presented before the court on April 29 at all costs. Along with this, orders have also been given to present documents related to their arrest and CCTV footage. Family had filed habeas corpus petition After the arrest of the three workers, their family members had filed a habeas corpus petition in the High Court. It is alleged that they were detained without due process. Case related to fake letter It is being reported that an alleged letter in the name of Vasundhara Raje went viral on social media, in which questions were raised regarding women’s reservation and delimitation. Later, this letter was declared fake. After this, Rajasthan Police, with the cooperation of Bhopal Police, arrested the three activists. Vivek Tankha also raised questions Senior Advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha has also questioned the police action. He said that the cyber police kept the three in custody for about 30 hours without a proper reason, which is illegal. According to Tankha, the alleged letter was widely circulated on social media from April 15-16, but action was taken on April 18, declaring it fake, which raises suspicion.
