A brutal murder in Bheda village of Sagar district has exposed a shocking conspiracy, where a man was lured to a house and killed with an axe over a suspected affair with a married woman. The victim, Mahendra Ahirwar (44), was murdered on April 10 after being invited to dinner through a phone call. “Hello, this is Sharda. Come home for dinner this evening. My sister is also here…” This seemingly harmless call turned out to be part of a pre-planned murder. Trusting the caller, Mahendra went to Rajiv Nagar in Sagar, unaware of the trap. Dainik Bhaskar spoke to the investigating officer to understand this entire murder case. How the accused were reached. Read the report… According to police, Mahendra was served food and was eating when an argument broke out. During the altercation, Ganesh—brother of the woman allegedly linked to Mahendra—attacked him with an axe, striking his neck. The blow proved fatal. He was assaulted again after collapsing, leading to his death. The postmortem revealed that food remained stuck in his throat at the time of death. A piece of bread was found in one hand and a cucumber in the other, indicating he was attacked mid-meal. Body dumped in sack by roadside After the murder, the accused stuffed the body into a sack and transported it in an electric auto-rickshaw. In the early hours of April 11, the body was dumped near Karraapur on the Sagar–Banda road. The sack, tied with torn fabric and stained with blood, initially led locals to suspect it contained a woman’s body. Police later recovered the corpse, which bore deep neck wounds and multiple injuries, confirming the murder took place elsewhere. Family waited through the night Mahendra had left home saying he would return shortly. His wife and 12-year-old daughter waited through the night, but he never returned. His identity was later confirmed after police circulated his photograph via social media and local stations. The investigation revealed that Mahendra was allegedly involved with a woman named Leela. Her husband, Harishankar Ahirwar, had warned him to stay away. As rumours spread in the village, the family felt socially defamed and allegedly planned the murder. How the murder was planned Police say the conspiracy was hatched by Harishankar along with his relatives, including his sister-in-law Sharda. On April 10, Sharda called Mahendra and invited him over, saying Leela was present. Once he arrived, he was welcomed and offered food. Soon after, others joined, and the situation escalated into violence. Accused confess during interrogation Sharda Ahirwar, who has been arrested, admitted to luring Mahendra as part of the plan. She told police the motive was to avenge the alleged affair, which had brought “defamation” to the family. At the time of the murder, several accused were present, including Leela, her husband Harishankar, her brother Ganesh, and others.
