Even after the removal of the BRTS corridor in Indore, traffic problems persist across several parts of the city. The situation is particularly difficult in areas where bridge construction is underway, as narrowed roads are causing major inconvenience to commuters. A ground report conducted on Thursday evening during peak hours tracked the stretch from Niranjanpur Square to Rajiv Gandhi Square, which took around 45 minutes to cover. Bridge construction worsens situation While roads have widened at some places after the BRTS removal, areas with ongoing elevated bridge work present the opposite picture. At Niranjanpur Square, barricading on both sides due to construction has narrowed the road, making movement difficult for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Worst congestion from Satya Sai to Vijay Nagar The team left Niranjanpur at 7:25 pm. It took just one and a half minutes to reach Mahindra showroom square, but traffic pressure increased thereafter. The worst congestion was observed between Satya Sai Square and Vijay Nagar Square, extending up to Bhamori. Due to ongoing work in the middle of the road, vehicles were seen using service lanes and even footpaths. At Vijay Nagar Square, narrow roads and traffic from multiple directions meant that vehicles could move only after waiting through two signal cycles. Signal timing slows traffic at Navlakha Traffic remained relatively normal after Bhamori across LIG, Palasia, Geeta Bhavan, White Church and GPO squares. However, signal timing caused delays at Navlakha Square, where the red light lasted over 125 seconds while the green was just 25 seconds, forcing commuters to wait through two cycles. After this, wider roads and better bridge connectivity eased movement, and the team reached Rajiv Gandhi Square via Bhanwarkuan. 45 minutes for the stretch The journey started at 7:25 pm from Niranjanpur Square and ended at 8:11 pm at Rajiv Gandhi Square, taking about 45 minutes—highlighting the reality of peak-hour traffic conditions in the city.
