An engineer riding a motorbike was shot in the Sanjay Nagar area of Jabalpur at around 8 am on Thursday. Civil engineer Clarence alias Raja (32) was on his way to Ranjhi when two masked men approached him on a bike and fired at his head. After the shooting, both attackers fled the spot. On receiving information, Ranjhi CSP Satish Sahu and station in-charge Umesh Golhani reached the scene. Police are currently scanning nearby CCTV footage to identify the accused. CSP Satish Kumar Sahu said Clarence was sent to the medical college for treatment. Police teams from Khamaria, Ranjhi, Panagar and Ghamapur are searching for the attackers. The motive behind the incident will be known after the investigation. After nearly two hours of surgery, the bullet lodged in his head was removed. Doctors at the medical college have declared Clarence brain dead. He is currently on ventilator support. He was returning home after dropping his child at school Police said his wife had died two months ago. He has a young child, whom Clarence was taking care of. His younger brother Ronald said Clarence Atkins was returning home after dropping his child at school. He was shot by someone on the way back. The bullet was lodged in his head and his condition is critical. Doctors carried out surgery. He had no known enmity with anyone.
