The incident, which took place on a cold February night, shattered the silence of a seemingly routine journey and left passengers in shock. In this story of Madhya Pradesh Crime files you will read about the incident that rocked the state. A silent night turns into a nightmare It was the night of February 11, 2022. Around 10 PM, the Karnataka–Hazrat Nizamuddin Sampark Kranti Express was speeding through tunnels, hills, and dense forests between Itarsi and Harda. Inside the AC coach, most passengers were asleep, wrapped in blankets, while a few stared out into the darkness.
Everything appeared calm—until a sudden scream pierced the silence. A cry for help breaks the silence Among the passengers were Naushad and Nuruddin from Bhopal. Despite not having confirmed seats, they had managed to sit in a space reserved for vendors. Shortly after settling in, they heard loud cries and screams coming from a nearby coach.
The voice was that of a young woman—terrified and in distress, as if she was being assaulted. Her cries for help echoed through the coach, alarming nearby passengers. A frightened girl runs into the coach Moments later, the coach door burst open. A young woman, around 21–22 years old, rushed in, visibly shaken. Her clothes were torn, her hair disheveled, her face flushed, and fear was evident in her eyes.
She was trembling, breathing heavily, and repeatedly looking back, as if someone was chasing her. She tried to speak but struggled to get words out. “I was raped,” she says Naushad and Nuruddin stepped forward to help her. Initially unable to speak, the woman slowly regained composure and, in a trembling voice, revealed what had happened.
“I was raped,” she said—leaving both men stunned. Crime in a moving train raises alarming questions By then, the train had crossed Itarsi and was heading toward Bhopal. The gravity of the situation was clear—such a serious crime occurring inside an AC coach of a premium train was deeply disturbing.
Passengers were unable to offer much assistance, as the identity of the accused was unknown, and fear gripped the coach. Panic in Bhopal, investigation begins As soon as the train reached Bhopal, police personnel entered the coach and began searching for the suspect. Naushad and Nuruddin escorted the victim to the Government Railway Police (GRP) station, where a First Information Report (FIR) was registered.
The victim could not identify the accused but described him as tall and wearing a blue shirt. With hundreds of passengers on board, most of them asleep at the time, locating the accused posed a serious challenge for the police. Key questions emerge The answers to these questions unfold in Part 2 of this case.
