BJP MLA Pritam Lodhi from Pichhore in Shivpuri district has stirred controversy after releasing a video slamming Karera Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDOP) Ayush Jakhad. Reacting to police questioning in connection with his son Dinesh Lodhi’s Thar accident case and remarks about his son’s presence in Karera, Lodhi said, “Karera is not your father’s property.” The SDOP has denied the allegations, stating that all actions were taken strictly as per law, including questioning, issuing challans for black film and hooter, and initiating driving licence cancellation proceedings. “My son will come and contest elections” In the video released late Sunday, 19 April evening, Lodhi appeared visibly angry. Responding to claims that his son should not be seen in Karera, he said: “Karera is not your father’s property. My son will come to Karera and will contest the elections too. If your father has the power, try to stop him.” He further warned officials to remain within their limits and act within the framework of the law, asserting that he also understands the law. Allegations of bias and selective action Lodhi alleged that his son’s accident case was exaggerated, while many other accident cases remain pending without proper investigation. He also accused the officer of bias, claiming that action is taken only in cases where there is financial gain. Referring to a recent accident involving the death of a tribal woman, Lodhi questioned whether the officer visited the spot or conducted any investigation. “You didn’t go because she was poor. There was no money to be made there. You only go where there is money,” he alleged. MLA claims cooperation with police The MLA stated that he himself had asked the police to register an FIR against his son. He said he ensured that the vehicle was handed over to the police, arranged for its release on bail, and sent his son to the police station for questioning. However, he expressed disagreement with the SDOP’s remarks. Police action in the case According to police, Dinesh Lodhi appeared at Karera police station on Sunday following a court order. He was questioned by SDOP Ayush Jakhad and Station House Officer Vinod Chhava. During the investigation, the Thar vehicle was found fitted with a hooter and black film on its windows. Police issued a challan under the Motor Vehicles Act and handed over the vehicle after due process.
