Jabalpur Economic Offence Wing (EOW) has registered an FIR and started an investigation against Mahendra Nagvanshi, a retired SDO of the Public Works Department, in a disproportionate assets case. In the initial investigation, assets worth Rs 5.47 crore, disproportionate to his known sources of income, have come to light. The action was taken under the direction of EOW SP Anil Vishwakarma. Search action at Chhindwara residence On Thursday, the EOW team searched the accused’s residence located at Adarsh Nagar, Parasia Road, Chhindwara. Cash, jewellery, vehicles, and other assets were found during the action. Assessment of residence, cash, and household items Multiple bank accounts in family’s name 8 bank accounts belonging to Mahendra Nagvanshi and 10 belonging to his wife, Seema Nagvanshi, have been found, which are currently under investigation. Case registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act Upon verification of the complaint, as the allegations were found to be prima facie correct, Crime Number 0/26 has been registered against the accused under sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (amended 2018). The investigation is ongoing.
