Preparations for Simhastha 2028 have gained momentum in Ujjain, with authorities stepping up efforts to ensure smooth management of the grand religious gathering. A key meeting was held at the Simhastha Mela office to discuss traffic and mobility planning for the event. Special focus on traffic management During the meeting, Urban Administration and Development Commissioner Sanket Bhondve said that special emphasis is being placed on traffic management to handle the large influx of pilgrims and vehicles expected during Simhastha 2028. He noted that extensive discussions have been held with the police administration, and the city is being divided into multiple zones to create a scientific and efficient traffic plan. Learning from past events, leveraging technology Officials highlighted that experiences from previous Simhastha events in 2004 and 2016 are being studied, along with preparations for the upcoming Nashik Kumbh, to formulate a more effective strategy. Bhondve also informed that a modern project management system portal has been developed to monitor progress. An online dashboard is being used for continuous review of ongoing works. On-ground inspections and tech integration Authorities said that, along with tracking physical progress, on-ground inspections (walkthroughs) will also be conducted using technological tools. All roads under the urban administration will be thoroughly inspected to ensure timely execution of plans, aiming to provide a smooth and efficient transportation system for devotees during the event. Senior officials attend meeting The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including ADG Rakesh Gupta, Divisional Commissioner and Mela Officer Ashish Singh, DIG Navneet Bhasin, Special Duty Officer Gopal Dad, Municipal Commissioner Abhilash Mishra, UDA CEO Sandeep Soni, and Smart City CEO Sandeep Shiva, among others.
