An administrative team that went to remove encroachments in the Dolly Baba area of Satna came under stone-pelting on Friday. To control the situation, police had to fire tear gas shells. The incident took place in the City Kotwali police station area. Following a court order, the municipal corporation’s anti-encroachment squad reached the site with a JCB machine to remove illegal constructions from private land. Stone-pelting from behind houses As the team began demolishing a building, some people started pelting stones from behind nearby houses. The stone-throwing was so intense that officials and staff present at the spot had to run to save their lives. In the incident, SDM Rahul Siladiya and Station House Officer Ravendra Dwivedi narrowly escaped. Seeing the situation worsening, additional police force was immediately called to the spot. Action resumes, encroachment removed To bring the situation under control, police fired tear gas shells. The situation gradually came under control. Police detained two men and one woman allegedly involved in the stone-pelting. Efforts are underway to identify and nab the other accused. After the incident, the administration resumed the anti-encroachment drive under tight security and removed the illegal constructions. A large number of police personnel remain deployed in the area.
