In Bhopal, women Congress workers burnt an effigy of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in front of the PCC. Women Congress workers raised slogans calling the Assam CM anti-Dalit. State General Secretary of Mahila Congress, Rupali Sharma, said – Assam’s Chief Minister is an anti-Dalit CM. He has insulted Mallikarjun Kharge, a leader from the Dalit community and the national president of the Congress party. Today, we have burnt an effigy of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. If he does not apologise, the Mahila Congress will continue to protest against him. Why is Assam’s CM being protested against? Actually, Congress leader Pawan Khera had accused Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan, of having three passports and foreign assets. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also supported this. The Assam CM reacted to Kharge’s statement with a comment. Congress leaders are protesting against this. What was the whole matter and statement? The controversy began when Congress leader Pawan Khera accused the Chief Minister’s wife, Rinki Bhuyan Sarma, of owning foreign property and multiple passports. Following this, Assam Police raided Khera’s residence in Delhi. Reacting to this action, Mallikarjun Kharge had criticized the government and called for clarification from the Ministry of External Affairs. Retaliating to this, Himanta Biswa Sarma used the word ‘mad’ for Kharge. Himanta said: “Kharge ji is old, but he is still talking like a mad person. How can you make such accusations without knowing the truth? This is like killing someone and then talking about giving them medicine.” He further added that Kharge should apologize to the country and that Assam Police would find Pawan Khera even from ‘Patala’ (the underworld).
