class-10-and-12-students-to-get-second-chance:board’s-‘second-exam’-from-may-7;-supplementary-system-ends

The Board of Secondary Education, M.P. Bhopal, has made a big change for students starting this year. The traditional supplementary examination system is now being abolished and a ‘Second Examination’ is being introduced, in which both failed and passed students will be able to participate. The special thing is that students will now be able to re-appear for an exam not only for failed subjects but also to achieve better marks in any subject. This examination will start from May 7, 2026. The board believes that this will provide students with a better opportunity to improve their results. The Board of Secondary Education has completely abolished the old system of supplementary examinations. Earlier, only students who failed in a maximum of two subjects in High School and one subject in Higher Secondary could appear for the supplementary examination. But now, under the ‘Second Examination’, all students will get equal opportunities. Along with failed students, passed students can also take the exam According to the new system, students who fail in a subject will be required to take the exam for that subject. At the same time, students who pass can also voluntarily appear in any subject to improve their marks. This change is considered a big relief for the students. According to the schedule released by the board, the second examination for Higher Secondary (12th) will be held from May 7 to May 25, 2026. The High School (10th) examination will be held between May 7 and May 19, 2026. All examinations will be conducted at designated centers. Better marks in the result will be valid The mark sheet issued after the second examination will be similar to the main examination. The board has clarified that whichever is the better result between the student’s main examination and the second examination, that will be finally considered valid. This will directly benefit students in improving their performance. How to apply To appear in the second examination, students must apply within seven days after the main examination results are declared. This process will be completed through MP Online kiosks, where applications can be submitted by depositing the prescribed fee. For this, students can visit the board’s official website www.mpbse.nic.in.
