Now, free treatment under Ayushman will not be available in these hospitals. 126 out of 398 hospitals affected in 4 cities In the four major cities of the stateBhopal, Indore, Gwalior, and Jabalpura total of 398 hospitals are associated with the scheme. Out of these, 126 hospitals could not provide information about their NABH certificate, due to which action was taken against them. This includes 51 hospitals from Bhopal, 30 from Indore, 33 from Gwalior, and 12 from Jabalpur. Ayushman CEO said – Patients will get better treatment Dr. Yogesh Bharsat, CEO of Ayushman Bharat Madhya Pradesh, said, This step has been taken to improve the quality of treatment in hospitals. Rules are being strictly enforced so that patients can receive safe and better treatment. Why is NABH Certificate Important? NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers) certificate is a proof of quality and safety of hospitals. It involves inspection of hospitals on more than 600 standards, which include patient safety, cleanliness, availability of medicines, nursing staff, emergency services, and surgical procedures. The government believes that this certificate guarantees safe and reliable treatment to patients. Direct Benefit for Full NABH Holders Hospitals that already possess a Full NABH certificate will receive the benefit of “Deemed Empanelment” upon application. Such hospitals will not require a separate inspection and will be able to directly join the scheme. Meanwhile, other hospitals will first need to obtain Entry Level NABH and it will be mandatory to achieve a Full NABH certificate within three years. Payment Based on Quality Under the Ayushman scheme, hospitals will now also be paid based on their quality. Full NABH hospitals will receive 115% of the claim amount. Entry Level NABH hospitals will be given an additional 10% payment. This will incentivize hospitals to provide better services. Monitoring will be done through patient feedback Now, patients will also play an important role in determining the quality of hospitals. Through a mobile app, patients will be able to give feedback on their treatment, based on which the services of hospitals will be evaluated. This system will increase transparency and make it easier to take action against poorly performing hospitals.
