Now petrol in Pakistan will be available at ₹378 per liter. Diesel will be available at the increased price of ₹520.35 per liter only. Cabinet ministers’ salaries stopped for 6 months To tackle rising inflation and economic crisis, Shehbaz Sharif also announced strict measures. He said that earlier a decision was taken to withhold 2 months’ salary of cabinet ministers, but now ministers will not receive salary for the next 6 months. The new prices have been implemented immediately at petrol pumps across the country. Sharif also clarified that these petrol prices will remain stable for at least the next one month. Earlier the price had crossed ?458 Two days ago, the Shehbaz government had increased the tax on petrol from 105 rupees to 160 rupees. Due to this, the price of petrol here increased from 321.17 rupees to 458.41 rupees per liter. The price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) had also increased by Rs 184.49 to Rs 520.35 per litre. However, the levy on diesel was eliminated, following which demands were being raised to provide relief in petrol prices as well. Gulf countries’ situation cited as reason for inflation In his address, the Prime Minister said that the ongoing conflict in West Asia and the closure of the ‘Strait of Hormuz’ have affected petroleum supply worldwide. Due to this, oil prices in the international market have risen sharply. He said that oil prices had been increasing daily for the past three weeks, but considering the difficulties of the common man, we did not pass this burden onto the public. The government provided a subsidy of approximately Rs 129 billion during this period. India had also reduced excise duty on petrol-diesel by 10-10 rupees Earlier in India too, the government had reduced the Special Excise Duty on petrol and diesel by 10-10 rupees. The duty on petrol was reduced from 13 rupees per liter to 3 rupees, while on diesel it was reduced from 10 rupees to zero. By reducing the excise duty, petrol-diesel prices have been kept stable.
