An 8-year-old girl, who was allegedly pushed in front of a train by her mother at Narmadapuram railway station, died 13 days later in Bhopal. Police on Monday arrested her mother, Anju Rajput, a clerk in the Agriculture Department, and sent her to jail. According to the Government Railway Police station in charge, Sanjay Choukse, Anju reached the station with her daughter, Yuvika, around 8 PM on March 17 and, after wandering for some time, allegedly pushed her in front of the Tamil Nadu Express. The critically injured girl was first admitted to Narmadapuram District Hospital and later referred to Bhopal, where she underwent surgery and remained under treatment until her death. Driver said – the woman had pushed her According to the police, on the second day of the incident, the train driver’s statement was recorded. The driver also confirmed that the woman herself had pushed the child in front of the train. During initial questioning, the accused mother kept denying the incident, but later, the police arrested her based on evidence. Woman wanted to remarry During interrogation, the accused woman stated that her husband had died in a road accident some time ago. After her husband’s death, she received a compassionate appointment in the agriculture department. The woman wanted to remarry, but she felt troubled because of the child. According to the police, the accused had taken the child to the railway station many times before the incident, but was unable to commit the crime at that time.
