A heartbreaking incident has come to light from Indore, where a three-and-a-half-year-old boy was burned alive after a car suddenly caught fire. The incident has left the family in deep shock and grief. “I couldn’t save him… I had taken him for a ride. How was I to know death was waiting there,” said the boy’s father, Sanjay Bahediya, while holding the body of his son Chirag. The incident happened on Saturday in the Simrol police station area. Chirag was sitting in a parked car when it suddenly caught fire. The flames spread quickly, and the child could not be saved. The scene shocked everyone present and left people shaken. According to the family, Chirag was born after they made a vow to ‘Shiva Baba’. They were planning to fulfil this vow in April. Just two days before the incident, Sanjay had bought a second-hand car and had taken his son out for a ride. Police and a forensic team reached the spot after the incident. They are now trying to find out how the fire started in the parked car. The exact cause is still under investigation. First, know how the accident happened It was a time of joy for the Bahediya family living in Ralamandal. Sanjay, a mechanic by profession, had bought a second-hand car (DL 8CAD 3786) from Indore two days earlier. The family had returned from a wedding ceremony in Dhamnod on Friday night. On Saturday morning, Sanjay took his son Chirag for a ride in the new car. This proved to be their last journey, which later led to the cremation ground. A few minutes’ distance and the end of life A friend had called Sanjay to repair a DJ vehicle near Sakar City on the Indore-Ichhapur Road. Sanjay arrived there with Chirag sitting in the front. He parked the car by the roadside. He left the window slightly open and went a few meters away to check the DJ vehicle. According to eyewitnesses, smoke suddenly rose from the car and quickly turned into flames. With a loud explosion, the battery and then the AC compressor burst, turning the car into a ball of fire. “Papa, save me…” a silent plea and a helpless father Seeing the blast and fire, Sanjay ran towards the car. The car was burning and his three-and-a-half-year-old son Chirag was trapped inside. People came to help, tried to extinguish the fire with water and soil and break the windows, but the fire was so intense that no one could get close. Sanjay wanted to jump into the flames, but people stopped him. In 10-15 minutes, the car was burnt to ashes and Chirag died. Chirag was born after a vow to ‘Shiva Baba’ According to family members, Sanjay has been married for 12 years and has a 10-year-old daughter Muskan. After 8 years of prayers and vows, his son Chirag was born. Preparations were underway to fulfill the vow made to ‘Shiva Baba’ in April. Every eye in the neighborhood was moist, the mother was in a bad state When Chirag’s body reached home after the post-mortem, gloom spread. Everyone’s eyes welled up seeing the body of the son for whom they had made a vow. Mother Meenu is unconscious and repeatedly saying, “My son was just playing… Where did my Chirag go?” At the crematorium, Father Sanjay kept crying, clinging to the body, and blaming himself. Hearing his lament, everyone’s eyes became moist. Second-hand car and short circuit under investigation According to Simrol Police Station in-charge Kuldeep Khatri, the initial investigation suggests a short circuit as the cause of the fire. The FSL team has collected evidence and started the investigation. It is also being investigated whether there was any fault in the wiring, battery, or AC unit of the old car. According to eyewitnesses, rescue would have been possible if the doors had not jammed or the fire had not spread so rapidly. Experts have advised that one must get the wiring and safety checked when buying a car and never leave children alone in the vehicle.
