BJP MP Darshan Singh Chaudhary from the Hoshangabad Lok Sabha seat has raised concerns over the Mohan Yadav government’s decision regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). He has written to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, urging him to consider filing a review petition in the Supreme Court to safeguard the interests of nearly 1.5 lakh teachers in Madhya Pradesh. In his letter, Chaudhary said many teachers who have served the state’s education system for more than 25 years are now facing the risk of losing their jobs. Appointment made as per rules: MP The MP said the teachers were appointed according to the rules and statutory provisions framed by the state government at the time. However, making the TET mandatory now has created confusion and uncertainty among them. He added that these teachers have played an important role in strengthening the state’s education system. Their experience and efforts, he said, have also helped improve students’ learning outcomes over the years. Former BJP MLA warns state government Earlier, former BJP MLA from Susner Murlidhar Patidar also wrote to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh, raising objections to the order. Patidar said the directive has created confusion and widespread dissatisfaction among teachers, and urged the government to withdraw the order. He stated that teachers appointed before the implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act should not be subjected to any humiliating process. If required, the government should even consider amending provisions of the RTE Act to resolve the issue. Patidar warned that if the government does not take prompt and positive action, the teaching community may launch an aggressive agitation, and he would also support their movement. Teachers’ body plans memorandum campaign Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh Government Teachers Organisation has begun preparations for a protest. The organisation has decided that from March 15 to March 28, teachers will submit memorandums to MPs, MLAs, public representatives, social workers, educationists and other prominent citizens across the state. They plan to request leaders to write to the Centre and the state government, and raise the issue in Parliament to oppose the mandatory TET requirement. The organisation will also press for filing a review petition in the Supreme Court and, if necessary, seek constitutional amendments. Statewide meeting in Bhopal on March 29 Teacher organisations from across Madhya Pradesh will hold a state-level meeting in Bhopal on March 29. During the meeting, representatives will discuss pending issues of teachers, explore the formation of a united teachers’ front, and decide the future course of protest and agitation.
