pcb-lodge-complaint-over-wrong-umpire-decision:pakistan-challenge-bangladesh’s-lbw-review-in-3rd-odi-at-mirpur

In the third ODI played in Mirpur, the Pakistan cricket team has complained to match referee Neaymur Rashid about an umpire’s decision. Pakistan claims that on-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena wrongly allowed Bangladesh to take an LBW review. The Pakistan team management alleges that Bangladesh took the review after the ball replay had already been shown on the stadium’s big screen. PAK vs BAN, LBW controversy in Mirpur explained
The incident is related to the last two balls of the match. At that time, Pakistan needed 12 runs from two balls to win. Rishad Hossain’s ball passed by Shaheen Afridi on the leg side, which the umpire called wide. After this, the Bangladesh players discussed among themselves and took a review for LBW. Rules were not followed in taking the review Pakistan has raised the issue of non-compliance with rules in taking the review. Pakistan says that when the video of the ball passing near the bat was shown on screen, only then did the Bangladesh captain appeal to the umpire for a review. According to the rules, the DRS decision must be taken by the player themselves without any external help or viewing TV footage. Pakistan also says that the 15-second time limit set for taking the review was not followed. However, no timer was visible in the TV broadcast, making it unclear whether the 15-second time limit had expired or not. Therefore, the wide decision was changed. Although Bangladesh’s review was rejected, after the wide was removed, the equation changed and Pakistan needed 12 runs off the last ball. Shaheen Afridi was stumped out on the last ball. With this, Bangladesh won the match by 11 runs and claimed the series 2-1. PCB’s Demand: Umpires should publicly accept their mistake Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is taking this matter seriously. According to sources, PCB wants the match referee to acknowledge that there were errors in umpiring and protocol compliance. Pakistan believes that if that ball had been called wide, they would have gotten an extra run and an extra ball, which could have changed the match result.
