Kevin Pietersen has stepped down from his role as Delhi Capitals’ (DC) mentor ahead of IPL 2026. The former English cricketer took to X on Saturday to make this announcement. “I won’t be able to dedicate the time required for this responsibility,” he wrote in a post in Hindi. However, the 45-year-old former batter wished the Delhi team and players good luck for the new season. He also stated that he would definitely be seen in the commentary box during the IPL and would remain a part of the Indian league. “I cannot be a mentor for Delhi Capitals in this IPL season. I cannot commit to the time that the job requires. Best wishes to all the players for this season! However, I’ll see you back in the commentary box! IPL is the world’s best league and I can’t wait to see all of you soon!” Pietersen’s tweet, when translated to English, reads. Kevin Pietersen became Delhi Capitals mentor in 2025 Pietersen was appointed as the mentor of the Delhi Capitals before IPL 2025. Last season, DC was eliminated from the league stage. The team won seven out of 14 matches, securing the fifth position. However, they failed to qualify for the playoffs. Pietersen has also been a part of the Delhi franchise as a player. At that time, the team’s name was Delhi Daredevils. He scored 599 runs in 19 matches for Delhi. His team reached the playoffs in 2012 but could not win the title.
