A 25-year-old shepherd died after being trapped under a truck and dragged for about 25 kilometres in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday morning. Police said the truck first ran over a goat and then hit the shepherd. The young man got trapped under the vehicle and was dragged for several kilometres. His head was crushed during the incident and he died on the spot. Villagers alerted the police and helped chase the truck. The vehicle and driver were eventually stopped near Kisaroli village. Around 10 am, he was grazing the animals near the roadside when a truck (MP31 HA 1220), coming from Shivpuri and heading towards Kailaras, passed the area at high speed. The truck first ran over one of Sonu’s goats. When Sonu tried to stop the truck, the driver hit him as well. His foot got trapped under the vehicle and he was dragged along the road. Police said Sonu remained stuck under the moving truck for nearly 25 kilometres. His head was crushed during the incident, leading to his death. Police and villagers chased and caught the truck driver After seeing the incident, nearby villagers immediately informed the police and started chasing the truck. Pahargadh police also launched a chase and intercepted the vehicle near Kisaroli village with the help of locals. Pahargadh Station House Officer Rajendra Parihar said the driver was caught after a chase. The deceased has been identified and his family has been informed. Additional Superintendent of Police Surendra Pratap Singh said the truck driver first ran over a goat, and when the shepherd tried to stop the vehicle, his leg got stuck under the truck. Police have taken the driver into custody and started further investigation.
