Filmmaker Priyadarshan recently revealed that cricketer Virat Kohli watches his comedy film ‘Dhol’ to relax before important matches. He also said that the film did not perform particularly well at the box office upon its release, but later gained new recognition on OTT and TV. In fact, in a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, Priyadarshan said, “To be honest, I now like making serious films. I don’t like making comedies anymore, but I’m forced to do it. I think I’ve run out of new ideas. That’s why I don’t want to repeat what I’ve done before. Maybe I’ll make one more comedy film, and then no more.” During the interview, he said, “I made films like ‘Khatta Meetha’ and ‘Dhol’ with a lot of love. I like both these films, but at that time, they didn’t do well in theaters. Later, due to OTT and other platforms, people started watching them, and today audiences are enjoying these films a lot.” Kohli relaxes himself by watching movies: Priyadarshan Priyadarshan said, “When I made ‘Dhol’, I thought this film would perform well. Now I am happy when people like Virat Kohli say that they watch ‘Dhol’ to relax before a match and also recite its dialogues to each other. The good thing is that humor always stays; it never ends.” Notably, in a career spanning over four decades, Priyadarshan has directed many popular comedy films. His films include ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Hungama’, ‘Hulchul’ and ‘Bhagam Bhag’, which are still loved by audiences today.
